This informative guide to blogging is available in English, Arabic, and Farsi.  The project was spearheaded by bloggers in Egypt.  Working with blogs might provide teachers with an interesting and creative way to engage students.

Applications are now be accepted from teachers in the Greater Boston Area to attend a conference on July 30 presented by the participants of the Teacher Education Institute 2007.  Attendees will earn 10 Professional Development Points (PDPs) and will have the chance to interact and learn with colleagues from 9 countries in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as faculty from Boston College and beyond.

Mediterranean Women and Human Development

We would like to alert our readers to an upcoming international conference on Mediterranean Women and Human Development. It will be held this summer in Fès, Morocco, on June 28, 29 and 30. The conference is being organized by the acclaimed scholar Fatima Sadiqi.

Fatima Sadiqi is a Professor of Linguistics and Gender Studies. She has written extensively on Moroccan languages and Moroccan women’s issues. She is Editor-in-Chief of Languages and Linguistics and serves on the editorial board of the Gender and Language journal.

Teaching and Learning Beyond Borders

On Thursday, July 19, 2007, 6pm, University of the Middle East Project will be Celebrating Ten Years of Teaching and Learning Beyond Borders. 

We are very pleased to announce our guest speaker, Mr. Shamil Idriss, Acting Director of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (Arabic available here).  The Alliance of Civilizations is an initiative of the United Nations launched by Security-General Kofi Annan, Prime Minister Zapatero of Spain, and Prime Minister Erdoğan of Turkey.
