Dear readers,

Happy holidays! We here at the University of the Middle East Project are pleased to report the successful implementation of another program held just last week in Amman, Jordan. The Civic Engagement Workshop was a cultural, intellectual, and professional exchange for a select group of Jordanian and U.S. high school teachers. As a result of the workshop, over a dozen new locally-based, teacher-designed civic programs for youth are being launched in the U.S. and Jordan.

Additional information about the workshop, as well as other important news about the University of the Middle East Project, is available online at http://www.ume.org/UME_%20holiday_letter_2007.pdf. A hard copy letter with the same information should be arriving at your home soon.

In the mean time, we would like to extend our greetings and encourage you to make a donation to our tax-exempt organization before December 31, 2007. We must rely on individual donors’ support; without it, the quality and scope of our programs cannot be sustained. Any amount helps! Of course, your contribution is tax deductable to the full extent allowed by law.

To make a secure contribution online through PayPal, go to http://www.ume.org/donating.

To donate by check, send it to the UME, Attn: Kirby Reiling, 66 Church Street, Cambridge, MA 02138.

At UME, our dream is to foster practical, creative initiatives for development and international collaboration in the Middle East and North Africa through education rich in critical thinking, inclusiveness, and academic rigor. Your donation helps make this dream a reality.

Finally, please mark your calendars for the date of our annual Open House. It will be held on January 18 at our office in Cambridge.

Thank you for your support, and best wishes to you for 2008.
Sincerely,
The UME Staff
