Fellowships at the Carr Center For Human Rights Policy 2009-2010

The Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard University is offering five 10-month fellowships for scholars and practitioners starting in September 2009.

These fellowships are designed to attract a diversity of human rights scholars and practitioners.

Noteworthy this year, is the recently created Gebran G. Tueni Human Rights Fellowship which aims to attract two fellows  from Lebanon and/or Iraq.

All the fellowships are specific in funding, eligibility and expectations. Thus, we encourage potential candidates to visit the Carr Center Website http://www.hks.harvard.edu/cchrp/ for further details and the application procedure. Please be aware of the February 27, 2009 deadline for all applications.

2009 Collaborative Art Initiative (CAI) in Morocco

UME is currently recruiting American teachers for the second phase of the Collaborative Art Initiative (CAI) that will take place from March 29 to April 5 in Tiznit, Morocco.

The CAI is a dynamic, two-phase educational and cultural exchange program of the University of the Middle East Project (UME). The first phase took place in July 2008 in the U.S.  The second phase will take place in March/April 2009 in Morocco.

The second phase includes the theoretical and practical aspects of the ways which collaborative art can be effectively incorporated in classrooms of all disciplines.

High school teachers of all disciplines and subject areas are elegible and encouraged to apply.

Civic Engagement Workshop, Lebanon.

The 2009 Civic Engagement Workshop which took place in Beirut, Lebanon, during the first week of January 2009,  was completed successfully. It brought together 4 American teachers from the Boston Area and Providence, R.I., and seven Lebanese teachers on the campus of the Amercican University of Beirut.
