The University of the Middle East’s President and Staff are pleased to invite you to our Annual Open House on Thursday, February 19th, 2009, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Please stop by to enjoy refreshments, hors d’oeuvres and live music while learning more about UME.
Join us to:
•See our attractive new office at The Arts at the Armory Center;
•Show support for our valuable non-profit educational organization, promoting inclusive and egalitarian classrooms in over ten countries;
•Meet other individuals who share your interests in education and the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (attendees will include representatives from local schools and non-profits, as well as academia);
•Learn how to become involved with exciting international exchange opportunities, such as the recent Civic Engagement Workshop in Lebanon or upcoming Collaborative Art Initiative in Morocco;
•Enjoy a live performance by members of the Joseph Kouyoumjian Ensemble;
•Enjoy some delicious Middle Eastern hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of Soundbites Cafe, Café Algiers and The Middle East Restaurant.

This is the first public event at UME’s new office, located at 191 Highland Avenue, in Somerville between Davis and Union Squares. UME moved offices in September 2008 to a new distinctive location that is the Somerville Armory. The newly renovated Armory also houses a new community arts center for the residents of Somerville.
There is free parking in the lot behind our building. If you are coming by public transportation, take the Red Line to Davis Square. From there, either walk down Highland Avenue (approx. 20 minutes) or take the 88 Bus towards Lechmere Station (approx. 15 minutes). Directions are available on any online search engine by entering:
